Initial Consultation
At Canine Design, I pride myself in the care and trust of you and your dog. Prior to each grooming session, I would like to discuss your requirements and what you expect from the session as well as your dogs likes and dislikes.

I believe this will eliminate any unnecessary strees to your dog during the groom, ensuring they enjoy themselves as much as possible and leave the salon looking forward to their next visit.

Bathing
Treat your pet to a soothing wash using the very best nutrient-rich conditioning shampoos which add a healthy shine and softness to the coat. Specialist treatments are available so each indivdual dog is catered for.

Drying
All my dogs at canine design are carefully hand dried. I do not believe in cage drying as this can
be very claustrophobic and stressful for the dogs.

Brushing
Brushing is an essential part of the grooming process. Brushing your dog stimulates the skin
and removes any dead coat whilst improving the coat texture and appearance. This prepares your dogs coat for trimming or scissor finishing.

De-matting
De-matting is not always necessary but if required can be done by hand using grooming tools. However if some coats are badly matted, they may need shaving. I will of course discuss this with you prior to the start of the grooming process.

Clipping and Scissor Finishing
I will always endevour to clip or scissor finish your dogs coat to the most practical style for you and your dog. If a breed standard finish is required, this can of course be catered for. If you have a particular style in mind, or have special requirements, I am always on hand to discuss this with you prior to your dogs groom.

Ears, Eyes and Nails
I will gently clean your dogs eyes and ears
using specialised high quality products suitable
for your dog. On every visit I will check your
dogs claws, front and back, to assess whether
they need clipping or filing. This service is
part of the full groom and will not be subject
to an additional charge.

Furminator de-shed

This is an anti-shedding treatment that
reduces the mess of unwanted hair, so less vacuum cleaning!  It is proven to reduce the shedding by up to 60-80%. excellent for allergy sufferers as it reduces the dander and airborne elements that cause these rections.

Hand - Strpping
Hand-stripping, carding and plucking are ancient grooming practices used to maintain the proper coat texture of many harsh, broken coated or flat coated breeds.

This correct texture helps protect the dog’s skin as they do the jobs they were breed to do. Stripping tools are used to literally pull out the dead or blown coat from the roots.

As a result of this grooming method, the hair grows back in a tight fitting “jacket” that lays flat against the dogs body. The hair will be harder than a clipped coat and brilliant colour.
Please note - this technique can only be achieved on dogs that have never been clipped.
